Speaking to Itugi TV on Wednesday, January 7, Patrick Kamau told how he “married” another man while he was serving a five-year sentence.

Raised by a single foster mother, Kamau said his mother had a lot of trouble taking care of him and his brother.

“We were sleeping hungry.”

After completing the eighth grade, he had no fees to continue his studies. Finally, in an effort to earn a living, he got involved in illegal fishing in Lake Naivasha.

How did the Committee prisoner get married?

The 26-year-old man was arrested and imprisoned in 2019 before being released in 2024. While in prison, Kamau said he considered the actions of his fellow inmate as common good.

“I met a relative in the kitchen, I felt lucky to know that I would be getting enough food.”

According to Kamau, he began to forget that he was in prison.

“I was well fed.”

However, the other prisoner had an ulterior motive.

“I didn’t know that he wanted to be paid. I wondered how I could pay him when I wasn’t working – because it’s even a prison.”

Kamau said the man told him they would meet later to talk.

“He told me his payment would be to take me—to make me his wife. He even brought a ring,” he said, making the interviewer laugh.

Kamau noted that in Kamit prison, prisoners organize arbitrary weddings.

“My wedding was a day to eat rice. The rice came like it was full of parrots,” he said with a laugh.

Finally he agreed.

“I left everything in God’s hands as long as I slept well and ate well. What else could I do when I was facing a five-year sentence?”

What did TikTokers say about the story of former prisoner Kamiti?

Many TikTokers were touched by Kamau’s story and gave the following comments:
