Governor Abdulswamad Nassir announced the appointment of Ogeta to an advisory position in the Executive Office of the Governor, focusing on security issues.

Why Maurice Ogeta was employed by Mombasa County government

The governor cited Ogeta’s profile and experience in security matters, which he noted was well displayed, as the latter served his late boss, Raila.

“Maurice Ogeta has been appointed to serve as Advisor, Security Affairs, in the Mombasa County Government. This appointment is based on his many years of experience and deep institutional knowledge built at the local, regional and international levels, including his service to our late Founding Leader, HE Raila Odinga, CGH,” the governor said.

Abdulswamad said the appointment of Ogeta followed the laws and requirements of the Mombasa County Public Services Board.

Apart from Ogeta, the governor appointed Ken Ambani as his creative arts adviser, citing his wealth of knowledge and direct experience in the sector.

The county boss expressed optimism about Ambani’s contribution, which he said will revive and promote the creative industry in Mombasa for the benefit of local artists, youth and the wider economy.

Ogeta followed Raila in service for almost two decades.

How Maurice Ogeta served Raila Odinga

He was among those most affected by the death of the veteran politician. He was Raila’s top security aide, after replacing the late George Oduor.

Ogeta served Raila until the day he breathed his last while undergoing treatment in India.

In his tribute to the former prime minister, Ogeta compared the late to his father, revealing that he experienced significant life development under his leadership.

He described his relationship with Raila as a father-son relationship, extending beyond professional duties.

Ogeta reflected on the years he spent protecting and supporting the veteran politician, noting that the experience was a path of personal growth under the guidance of a man he greatly respected, adding that he was an important influence that shaped his life and career.

How William Ruto respected Maurice Ogeta

Ogeta’s appointment in Mombasa came several months after the President William Ruto pledging to support him as thanks for his exceptional service to Raila.

The President recalled how Ogeta once looked after him when he was with Raila one day after the night campaigns during his (Ruto’s) days in ODM.

Ruto appreciated that Ogeta had always stood by Raila and added that, when the government contemplates the legacy of the deceased leader, Ogeta would also play a role in protecting it along with others who served with him.

Without detailing the plan, the president assured Ogeta that he would be given the opportunity to serve in his government.
