Family, friends and church members have mourned the sudden death of a Catholic catechist and his family in a road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

Catechist James Njoroge Kabari, his beloved wife Teresia Wanjiru, and their two young children, Michael Kabari (6) and John Mark Kabui (1), were among the people who perished in the fatal accident on Monday, January 5.
For luck good, their daughter Clare Wairimu survived the accident and was rushed to the Nairobi Women’s Hospital in Naivasha for emergency medical care.
He continues to be closely monitored as doctors monitor his recovery.
How did the Archdiocese of Nairobi mourn catechist Njoroge?
In a statement circulated online, the Archdiocese of Nairobi mourned the catechist and his family, offering prayers of strength and comfort to their loved ones.
“James was the catechist of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Ridgeways. The family is from Ndundu Parish, Gatundu South. While we pray for the repose of their souls and comfort for the family, we also pray for their daughter in a special way, who was involved in the accident and is currently hospitalized,” part of the statement read.
Wairimu’s brother, Peter Kihagi, shared that his sister was a teacher in Gilgil and that the family was traveling from Kiambu when the accident happened early in the morning.
Overcome with emotion, Njoroge’s brother, Thuku Kibari, spoke tearfully about his brother’s hopes for the new year.
“He said that if God would bless him, he would expand his house a little and make our mother a good place for her cows. Those were some of his last words to me. Although our hearts are broken, I believe that wherever they are now, they are resting in peace,” he said with tears in his eyes.

How did the Karai accident happen?
A fatal accident involving a Greenline bus and three with 14 seats happened in Karai area in Naivasha.
According to the police report, the saloon car that was connecting the highway from the Eagle Petrol Station caused the bus to swerve, leading to the accident.
Police Commander Emmanuel Epuru said that the bus was traveling from Nakuru going to Nairobi, while the matatu was heading in the other direction.
Among the injured, eight victims were from three, while one, a child, got off the bus. Nine people died at the scene, while another later died of injuries while receiving treatment.
Five people were admitted in serious condition, while 35 others, including five children, were taken to the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital for further care.
