In Kericho, police are investigating the deaths of two men allegedly linked to a love dispute in Kipkelion.
The incident happened on Sunday, January 4, in the village of Kapkwen, where a man reportedly found another man in his girlfriend’s house.
Armed with a knife and club, the suspect stabbed and beat to death 40-year-old Zachariah Bii, before attacking 20-year-old Pius Chepkwony, a neighbor who ran to the area after hearing the noise.
Authorities say the suspect fled with his girlfriend immediately after the attack, while the victims’ bodies were sent to Mochari for post-mortem and further investigation.
The police have launched a manhunt and urged the suspect to surrender for his own safety.
In Ratado, Siaya County, officials found the body of 50-year-old Zacharia Muhoroni, a herdsman from Uganda, in a banana farm under suspicious circumstances, while the cause of the killing is still unclear.
Meanwhile, in Kajiado County, security officers rescued a mother and her two children shortly after they were abducted from their home in Isinya by four people who were armed with knives and local weapons.
The kidnappers took the victims in a Subaru Forester car and demanded a ransom of KSh 400,000 from their family.
Security agencies quickly received information, roadblocks were set up, and the car was found abandoned in Kiserian, with the mother and her children safe inside.
The attackers fled on foot after stealing the family’s mobile phones, while the police continued to monitor information to arrest them.
The event highlights the ongoing threats from family conflicts, planned attacks, and organized crime, and emphasizes the need to strengthen security and community vigilance in rural and urban areas.

2. Nation Today
This newspaper highlighted the problems facing ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, who is in danger of being expelled from the party due to his stance against integrated government.
Recently, Sifuna has taken a strong stance against ODM members who are alleged to be collaborating with the President’s government William Ruto.
His latest criticism was aimed at Suna East Member of Parliament, Junet Mohamed, the Minority Leader in the National Assembly, who accused Murang’a during his funeral of mismanaging the 2022 presidential election and harming him. Raila Odinga.
In response, some members of the party warned that Sifuna will not be allowed to destabilize ODM, asking him to voluntarily resign or face expulsion.
His challenges are coming while the former Vice President Rigathi Gachagua urging him to join the Opposition Union.
However, Sifuna is among the group that opposes any collaboration with Ruto, and has repeatedly emphasized that ODM will not enter into any alliance that will strengthen Ruto’s bid for re-election in 2027.

This newspaper reported the ongoing tension within ODM, where a certain group is increasing pressure on the party leader and Siaya Senator, Oburu Oginga, to convene a special meeting aimed at expelling members who defy the party’s position and restoring discipline.
Several leaders, speaking separately, criticized those who claim to destabilize ODM from within, insisting that they should resign or be expelled.
The MPs claimed that new parties are being established in some areas with the aim of weakening ODM’s influence and preventing its candidates from winning seats.
One leader said: “We understand that people leave political parties when elections are near.
But our problem is that if the main party has taken a position to enter an integrated government and you are not happy with that position, the best thing is to leave.
What Sifuna and others are trying to do is to stay in the party and disrupt it before leaving. We tell them to stop doing that. This is the party that fed them.”
He added: “We tell him this is not the best way, and he should leave the party if he wants to do other things. Once ODM collapses, that will not be allowed.”

On the evening of Sunday, January 4, a fatal accident between a Greenline bus and a Nanyuki Express Cabs passenger car resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people.
Initial investigations showed that a bus heading to Nairobi and a car heading to Nakuru collided in Karai area, Naivasha, on the Nairobi-Nakuru road.
Police said the accident was caused by a small car entering the road from the Eagle gas station, forcing the bus to swerve and collide with a passenger car.

The Nakuru County Police Commander, Emmanuel Epuru, confirmed that 10 people died.
Eight passengers in the passenger car and one child in the bus died on the spot, while the other victim died later due to injuries.

Between Sunday evening and Monday morning, road accidents, including the Karai accident, resulted in the deaths of 18 people.

Later, at 10:05 pm on Mombasa Road near Konza City, a bus hit a Nissan passenger car with 19 seats, killing eight people.
