He revealed that the reality of the upcoming political season, especially the legal risks facing many politicians, played a major role in his decision to withdraw from the race.

“After listening carefully, I have made a deliberate decision not to run for Nairobi senatorship,” Omari said.

What will be the next job of Omari after leaving the political ambition?

He warned that turbulent political times lie ahead and suggested that law enforcement agencies would crack down on several politicians soon.

He explained that he does not want to be among the leaders who are expected to be expelled by the security agencies for various charges.

Omari said that many in the political class urged him not to leave him during that period, hinting at what he will do now that he has given up his ambitions.

In his opinion, the lawyer said that his position would be better in court than in the campaign.

“Many politicians will be arrested and I don’t need to be among those arrested but I will be ready to defend them. Many asked me not to leave them in their time of need. As I say, defense never rests so I have decided not to rest,” Omari told TUKO.co.ke.

What motivated Omari’s senatorial aspirations?

The announcement marks a major change for the popular lawyer, who only recently ventured into the Nairobi Senate seat.

In earlier interviews, Omari had openly criticized the current Nairobi senator, Edwin Sifunaaccusing him of failing to effectively oversee accountability in the use of county funds under Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration.

He argued that the Senate, as envisioned in the 2010 Constitution, plays a critical oversight role that Nairobi residents were not fully benefiting from.

Omari had also framed his ambitions within what he described as Nairobi’s political cycle, pointing to past transitions between the Senate and the governor’s office.

He suggested that Sifuna’s political path naturally pointed him towards a gubernatorial bid, leaving space for new leadership at the Senate.
