During one of the mourning sessions, Lanoi left many emotions as he described him as loving, kind, and devoted to all his wives and children.
Before the funeral, public attention had focused on whether Jirongo would be buried with a torch, a traditional Luhya custom that is sometimes observed when a person dies under mysterious circumstances.
However, as the funeral services continued, the focus shifted to the emotions expressed by his grieving family.
Jirongo’s coffin, draped neatly with the UDP flag, was lowered into the white-tiled grave as family members looked on.
Lanoi struggled to hold back tears, repeatedly wiping her face and covering it as she poured out her husband’s.
Standing beside him, Christine looked sad, watching the casket descend, overcome with grief.
Several Jirongo children were also present, many crying as they accepted the loss of their great father.
After the funeral rites were completed, wives and children were allowed to place wreaths around the grave, marking the sad end of the emotional ceremony.

However, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) ruled out the possibility of a crime involving a white Toyota Probox that was allegedly following him as seen in CCTV footage from the scene of the accident.
It is worth mentioning that several politicians at his funeral demanded an official investigation to determine if he really died from the accident.
