Shinyalu: Former Member of Parliament Daniel Khamasi Dies, Kenyans Mourn

Kakamega – Former Shinyalu Member of Parliament Daniel Khamasi has died at the age of 79.

The family confirmed that Khamasi died at 4am on Tuesday, December 30, at a Nairobi hospital.

How did Daniel Khamasi die?

His niece, Hillary Amboso, revealed that the former lawmaker was battling diabetes and high blood pressure.

Khamasi was first elected in 1997 on the Ford-Kenya party ticket and re-elected in 2002 under the NARC reform wave.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa confirmed the sad news, expressing deep sorrow following the death of the former Shinyalu Member of Parliament.

In his touching condolence message, Barasa described the late Khamasi as a dedicated public servant whose contribution to the development of Shinyalu will be remembered by generations.

“I have received, with great sadness, the news of the death of Hon. Daniel Khamasi, the former Member of Parliament for Shinyalu. He was a dedicated servant whose contribution to Shinyalu will be remembered. On behalf of the people and the Government of Kakamega County, I convey my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Shinyalu at this difficult time,” Barasa said.

How did Enock Kibunguchy die?

Khamasi’s death comes less than a week after the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Enock Kibunguchy.

Kibunguchy’s family questioned the circumstances surrounding his death, suggesting that there may have been political foul play.

Speaking at the Hospital EldoretDickson Kelly, son of the deceased, said they strongly believe that there is fraud in sudden death.

He added that the family will investigate the matter in more detail after the autopsy.

According to family members, doctors at the hospital announced Kibunguchy’s death on Monday night, December 22, at about 11:30 pm.
