- Former Internal Security Minister Fred Matiang’i has dismissed President William Ruto’s dream of turning Kenya into a first world democracy, saying it is impossible
- While Ruto has promised to build a free economy comparable to countries like Singapore and South Korea, Matiang’i says the president has not fulfilled the promises he made during the 2022 campaign.
- Matiang’i criticized Ruto’s bottom-up agenda as ineffective, warning Kenyans against being fooled by what he called the “second season of lies,” which has now focused on the Singapore story.
Former Interior Minister, Fred Matiang’i, has ignored the President’s dream William Ruto to turn Kenya into a first world democracy.
Ruto has repeatedly emphasized the possibility of Kenya achieving advanced economic development like Singapore.
In addition to infrastructure projects, he has promised the nation to increase the base of the economy and lead it towards economic independence, reducing dependence on foreign loans.
Ruto often emphasizes that Kenya has the potential to build a competitive economy in the world, using the examples of countries like South Korea, China, and Singapore, which have experienced rapid economic growth in a short period of time.

He expects that within the next twenty years, Kenya will be able to implement major development projects without involving foreign loans, noting that the nation already has the resources and skilled workforce needed to achieve these changes.
In response to these claims, members of the United Opposition say that all the achievements the president spoke of cannot be fulfilled.
Matiang’i, who is also a presidential candidate from the party, believes that Ruto can deceive Kenyans again after the 2022 campaign.
According to Matiang’i, the president has not yet fulfilled the promises he made to Kenyans when he was seeking the presidency in 2022.
He referred to Ruto’s bottom-up economic agenda, which the president said would help uplift poor Kenyans.
Three years after Ruto came to power, Matiang’i says the agenda has failed. He warned that Kenyans would be deceived again in another political game.
“It’s a joke. Some of the things we do, I don’t know. I’m holding back, to be clear. I don’t want to tell a joke about Singapore and that we don’t have children in school. Wait for January and see what happens.
The first fake season was about the bottom-up agenda and the businessmen, and now we’re going to give Mama Mboga billions and boda bodas billions and I don’t know who else billions. We had a blast handing out billions in the first season of fiction. Now the second season is in Singapore,” said Matiang’i.

The President attributes his dream of a better Kenya to his professional and leadership qualities. He emphasizes that his energy and enthusiasm are exactly what Kenya needs to achieve meaningful change.
Ruto said that the nation has lacked a leader who is willing to break the order and make tough decisions that can change the country for the better.
He noted that countries like Singapore and South Korea were in Kenya’s position before until a visionary leadership pushed them to achieve their rapid development.
Defending himself against criticism, Ruto has promised to implement even the unpopular decisions that are needed, stressing that such actions will ultimately elevate Kenya to a great nation and that the time to act is now.
