Cherargei accuses Sifuna of harming the leadership of the Orange party, which has accepted a system of cooperation with UDA dominant.

The senator’s response was prompted by Sifuna’s comments on whether ODM will support the President William Ruto.

Speaking in Kakamega, Sifuna had announced that ODM’s senior leadership would not take the party to an alliance with Ruto’s UDA, saying that the decision would be made by party members at the grassroots.

He accused his colleagues connected with Ruto to be brokers seeking to sell the party for their own selfish gains.

Cherargei highlighted that Sifuna was an agent of the United Opposition seeking to disrupt the wider order from within.

“Sifuna, this speaker is popular with professional political bidders. Your tenure as Secretary General of ODM is now a weight and a threat to the broad-based government moving forward in the near future. You must be removed so that you are free to join the disjointed opposition. These threats will end soon,” he said.

Is Edwin Sifuna an Opposition Agent in ODM?

Sifuna has been consistent in criticizing Ruto, whom Cherargei praises for pushing Kenya’s development agenda.

According to the Nandi senator, his counterpart in Nairobi should support government cooperation instead of opposing it, considering that he (Sifuna) signed the ODM-UDA agreement in his capacity as general secretary.

Cherargei suggested that Sifuna should either resign or be fired if he continues to speak badly about the employment contract.

He further claimed that Sifuna is acting as a local opposition figure working to disrupt ODM from within.

The agreement focused on addressing national challenges such as the high cost of living, corruption, extrajudicial killings, and strengthening decentralization.
