Vihiga Law Officer Who Was Going Home For Christmas Found Murdered, Body Dumped

Shock and sadness have spread in Vihiga following the tragic death of a legal officer of the county parliament, who was found murdered after getting lost on the way home.

Raychelle Dorothy Adhiambo, 38, mother of two, had traveled from Poisonous on Friday night after attending the graduation ceremony at Kabarak University in Nakuru.

How did Raychelle Adhiambo get lost?

He was eager to be reunited with his family before Christmas.

According to relatives, he climbed three Kisumu and get off at Bondo at about four o’clock at night. From there, he hired a boda boda to take him to their rural home in Got Agulu, about 30 kilometers away.

His older sister, Maureen Atieno, vividly remembered their last conversation.

“He asked me, ‘Do you have a jerikan? The boda boda I rode seems to have run out of oil. I’m here, and this person wants… I’m on a bad, very bad road,” Atieno said describing the dark and rainy night.

Usenge, where Adhiambo was standing, is about six kilometers from their home and 24 kilometers from the town of Bondo.

When was Raychelle Adhiambo Found Dead?

The family immediately started a quick search that night, but they lost him.

His father, Arthur Syamba, encouraged them to keep calm and continue the search the next morning.

“Just come back, we’ll follow up next morning. We didn’t believe someone would want to kill him,” he said.

The search ended in tragedy on Saturday, December 20, when her fiance, Peter Adulu, who had traveled from their home in Vihiga to join the family, found her body at the Bondo Sub-District Mortuary.

Police reported that passers-by had discovered the body dumped 200 meters from the road and informed the authorities. His belongings, including his mobile phone, were missing.

Syamba confirmed that the case had been taken over by detectives from CID headquarters.

“The case was taken up by the CID headquarters, and they informed me that they are forming a team. We will know the details after the post-mortem,” he said.

What did Raychelle Adhiambo’s husband have to say?

Her husband has mourned endlessly, remembering the time of love they shared and the pain of their children, who cried when he left home, not knowing it would be their last farewell.

“Why did you leave me, my love, why? I have no strength, I have no strength. We all cried when you told me you were traveling, but it was the last goodbye for the boys and me. We took this picture that day, the boys hugging me, and we told you we will miss you,” he said, his voice full of sadness.

The Vihiga County Parliamentary Services Board also paid a touching tribute, describing him as a dedicated professional whose impact will be remembered for years to come.

“In our memory, she remains a true testament to her dedication to duty. She left a strong impact on the team, and we thank God for her service to us. At the time of her death, Raychelle served diligently in the Secretary’s Department as a Committee Secretary with exemplary diligence. We will always honor her contributions and the life she lived. Raychelle’s death reminds us to always appreciate, promote kindness, and work towards a safer society for all,” the board said in its statement.
