Kakamega: About 8 people lost their lives after Matatu hit a trailer in Lugari

At least eight people lost their lives while seven others sustained serious injuries following a horrific road accident.

The incident on Tuesday night happened at Mukhonje business center in Lugari constituency.

The accident happened on the busy Eldoret-Webuye road and involved three of public transport and a truck that transfers fertilizer.

The accident caused panic among residents and motorists, as emergency responders rushed to the scene to help the victims.

Eyewitnesses said three, which was going out Eldoret towards Webuye, it hit the back of a truck that was parked on the side of the road.

The collision was reported to have occurred when the matatu driver tried to pass other vehicles, but hit a stationary truck, resulting in death.

Confirming the incident, the Assistant Chief of Maturu sub ward, Samuel Wamalwa, said the driver of the matatu was among those who lost their lives in the accident.
