Kaluma recalled how he narrowly escaped an attack he claimed was planned on November 23, a few days before the by-election.
What happened before Kaluma was attacked?
On the day of the by-election, he said he went to receive the former independent candidate, Philip Aroko, at the Agoro Sare Primary School polling station, mistakenly thinking that he was the ODM candidate, Boyd Were.

According to Kaluma, after greeting each other, Aroko allegedly ordered his followers to attack him immediately.
During the attack, he claimed that Aroko’s team took his bodyguard’s weapon and gave it to the candidate before leaving.
However, in his latest post on social media, the lawmaker claimed that the assailants had planned to kill Boyd when he came to vote, but “God planned for me to come before him.”
Have Peter Kaluma’s attackers been arrested?
He also accused the police officers who were present in the area for withdrawing and thus giving an opportunity for an attack to happen.
Despite the attack happening publicly in front of the public and the media, Kaluma complained that no one was arrested.
“They entered Agoro Sare, attacked me, left me almost dead and took away their weapons from my bodyguards by force while two OCPD police commanders and more than 10 officers who were there withdrew to give me a chance to be killed. They have not been arrested, despite me being openly attacked in front of the police, the public and the media; and despite them returning the weapon of my bodyguard to the police. Don’t forget, I am a member of the Security Committee in parliament,” he said.

He noted that he is still recovering from another surgery, expressing confidence that he will recover and return to serve his constituents soon.
“I’m down, I’ve had another operation. It’s lonely here. God will heal my wounds, and I’ll come back to you soon,” added Kaluma.

Fredrick Moreli: “No weapon formed against you will succeed, says the Lord of hosts.”
Grace Akinyi: “Your Honor, Christ the Healer is with you there. Healing is your part.”
Peter Obuya: “I’m sorry, Your Honor. I’m just wondering if a grown-up gentleman, who has an armed guard and who is also a member of the security committee in the National Assembly, is not safe and is in a state of complaining, are the rest of us safe? This leaves us all in the hands of God, the Great King.”
KT Arap Chepkwony 2: “Thank God that you survived this attack. May God continue to protect you and strengthen you in your recovery. Your courage in the face of challenges like these deserves praise. We pray for safety, peace and endurance for you and all those who serve the people. Stay strong.”
Doctor James Jakadibo: “Quick relief. The injury worries me. Do not be affected by any bacterial infection.”
Did Philip Aroko plan the attack on Kaluma?
At the same time, Aroko denied allegations linking him to a brutal attack on the Homa Bay Town MP.
The former candidate said the allegations were unfair and politically motivated, claiming he tried to protect the MP from his attackers.
According to Aroko, the violence started when he asked Kaluma to consider justice in the process, and after the crowd overpowered him, he withdrew and left the area.
