In a statement, the federation praised Mash Poa’s safety record, noting that the company’s buses—especially those plying the Mombasa-Kampala route—are known for their reliability and professionalism.

The federation stressed that Mash Poa provides two drivers on long journeys to reduce fatigue and increase passenger safety.

“The fraud displayed by the drivers involved is unacceptable and demonstrates the urgent need for structural change,” said the statement.

The federation also called for bodabodas, tuk-tuks, bicycles, and motorcycles to be banned from highways, stressing that they were designed for short-distance transportation and not to be transported at high speeds with large vehicles for long trips.

The federation urged the authorities to launch an intensive investigation to arrest those responsible for the fire, warning that such reckless actions could jeopardize the high-quality transport services that provide passengers with safety and comfort.
