The post-mortem report revealed that Jirongo died from multiple injuries sustained after his car collided with a Climax bus traveling to kiss.

The accident happened on December 13 near a petrol station in Karai, Naivasha.

Bumula Member of Parliament, Jack Wamboka, questioned how all the 65 passengers in the bus continued their journey without stopping to testify about the accident.

He further demanded CCTV footage from the Oasis Karen Hotel, where Jirongo attended a meeting before leaving.

Wamboka said investigators should find out who escorted the former member of parliament from the hotel and trace his movements to Naivasha.

“We want to see the Luhya people who were in that bus. On behalf of the Luhya community, we are not satisfied. We have been losing very serious people in this community. We will not remain silent until they tell us how he left Oasis for Naivasha. Nairobi is full of cameras—let them show us who he left with,” Wamboka said.

Wamboka said that the community will not be threatened by the mysterious deaths of its leaders.

“Even if you kill Jirongo today, what about his spirit? We will not be afraid because if you speak, you will fall. Stop killing Luhya leaders. President William Ruto came here quietly and left. Jirongo was his friend. Let him come and tell us what happened. We will not leave any stone unturned. Jirongo was a man; you cannot compare him with these people who walk around,” added Wamboka.

Will the MPs pursue justice for Jirongo?

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi echoed Wamboka’s concerns, pointing out that foul play cannot be eliminated.

He criticized the reliance on a single driver’s account and the absence of passenger testimony.

“People usually stop when accidents happen. They take pictures and create a scene. Why is there only a picture and an account of one driver? We should not hide these issues. Jirongo must be the last leader to die mysteriously without explanation. His blood must be counted,” Amisi said.

Amisi added that they will not finish the matter during the funeral, stressing that the investigation must continue.

He urged investigators to ‘tell the truth’ and address the contradictions in the witnesses, declaring, ‘This was no ordinary accident nor ordinary death. We will bury it and continue the investigation.’

Is Jirongo’s death still a mystery?

Meanwhile, after reviewing the CCTV footage of Jirongo’s last moments, a citizen, Ndungu Harun, concluded that the incident appeared to be a simple accident with no evidence of foul play.
