Mohammed Ibrahim: Ruto Weeps For High Court Judge, Says He Was An Honest Lawyer

Nairobi – President William Ruto has joined Kenyans in mourning the death of High Court Judge Mohammed Ibrahim.

In a statement he published on his social media page on Wednesday, December 17, the head of state paid great respect to the deceased judge.

Ruto described Judge Ibrahim as a principled jurist and a staunch defender of multi-party democracy.

The President said Judge Ibrahim will be remembered for his passion for human rights and his commitment to justice and equality under the law.

“We will remember High Court Judge Mohammed Ibrahim as a principled jurist, a passionate defender of human rights, and a staunch defender of multi-party democracy,” Ruto said.

He noted that the deceased judge started a historic path as the first member of his community to be accepted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Ruto said the success broke barriers and inspired generations to follow justice, public service, and equality under the law.

The President offered his condolences to Judge Ibrahim’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire legal community.

“On behalf of myself, and on behalf of all Kenyans, I offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire legal community,” Ruto said.

He added that the country will be comforted by the lasting legacy of Justice Ibrahim and the great impact of a life dedicated to justice and the rule of law.

Other Kenyan leaders also thanked the late High Court judge, praising his long and honorable career in the legal profession.

Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula said Judge Ibrahim will be remembered for his role in promoting social justice and defending the rights of minorities.

Wetang’ula described the late judge as one of the first judges of the High Court of Kenya with a highly decorated legal career spanning over three decades.

“I am saddened to hear about the death of Honorable Judge Mohammed Ibrahim after a long illness,” Wetang’ula said.

“He will be remembered for his great role in bringing social justice, fighting for minority groups to have equal rights, and for providing free services many times,” he added.

How other leaders mourned Judge Mohammed Ibrahim

Former Defense Cabinet Minister Aden Duale said the death of Judge Ibrahim marked the end of a remarkable chapter in the legal history of Kenya.

He mentioned the late judge as a pioneer, defender of human rights, and an important person in the movement of constitutional reform.

“Judge Ibrahim served the nation with honor for more than two decades, defending the Constitution with courage, integrity, and great respect for justice,” Duale said.

Former governor of Nairobi Mike Sonko shared a short message of condolence, praying for strength for the family of Judge Ibrahim and the court fraternity.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May Allah grant you Jannatul Firdaus and give strength and comfort to your family, your colleagues, and the entire court fraternity,” Sonko said.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo also offered his condolences, describing Judge Ibrahim as a prominent figure in Kenya’s legal and constitutional journey.

Guyo said the late judge was an important contributor to constitutional reform and a committed defender of human rights.

“For more than two decades, he served the nation with honor, courage, and sincere dedication to the rule of law,” Guyo said.
