Ngugi’s phone continued to be switched off, making all efforts to reach him fail.
Wanjiku had to contact other community members and friends for help in finding her missing husband.
“He never turned off his phone. Even when he comes home at night for work, I turn off his phone so he can rest. It never turns off by itself. That’s when I felt there was danger,” she said, wiping her tears with a handkerchief.
The worried family filed a case at the Kabete Police Station, where the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) took action.
Security guards tracked Ngugi’s last movements and communications to ascertain his whereabouts.
“DCI said the last signal of his phone was in Gilani’s Estate near Athi River. The same information was also given by Safaricom. We have searched in all public hospitals in Nairobi, Machakos Level 4 Hospital, and Shalom Hospital, among others, without success,” Wanjiku revealed with emotion.
Ngugi joined the taxi industry about seven months ago after getting a Toyota Vitz to support his young family in the area Kawangware 56.
Kenyans were saddened for the family and came forward in the comments section to write emotional messages.
