1. The Standard
The newspaper reported harsh criticism of the President William Ruto against the leader of Wiper Patriotic Front, Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking in Kiambu on Sunday, December 14, Ruto accused Kalonzo of undermining his agenda of change and plans to develop the country’s infrastructure, as well as leading efforts to smear it.
Ruto has repeatedly defended Kenya’s ability to reach the status of developed nations like Singapore, but he noted that his vision has met with opposition from opponents who despise his plans claiming they are unrealistic or lack good intentions.
Ruto indirectly targeted Kalonzo, describing him as a leader who, despite holding top positions in previous governments, has no progress to show.
The President said Kalonzo has no moral justification to warn others about development, stressing that Kenyans should not rely on leaders who failed to implement when they had the chance.
2. Daily Nation
The publication reported on the increase in the number of fatal accidents on the country’s highways ahead of the festive season.
In Nyamira county, eight members of a family died on Saturday, December 13, after the car they were traveling in collided head-on with a trailer in the Bw’arani- Tombe area along the Kericho-Nyamira road.
Jones Kebaso said his four brothers were affected by the accident that happened around 8pm.
His brother-in-law and his nephew died, while two other relatives were admitted to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital in critical condition with severe head injuries and are currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
In Homa Bay county, ten people from the same family died after their car collided with two trucks in Chabera area.

Police forensic experts have dismissed the official narrative about the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament and Minister of Regional Development, Cyrus Jirongo.

According to the expert report, reconstruction of the scene shows that the accident was not a head-on collision with a bus, as previously claimed.
The results of the police indicate that the Mercedes-Benz E350 car that Jirongo was driving was first hit hard in the back-left side by another car that was heavier and faster, different from the Climax Sacco bus mentioned, when the car was going slowly or slowing down.
“The Mercedes-Benz E350 was first struck at the rear-left by a speeding and heavy vehicle, then destroyed in a second high-force frontal collision that resulted in serious internal injuries,” an excerpt of the report says.
The initial collision caused extensive damage to the area, breaking the rear-left lamp inwards and damaging the wheel area; then the car was pushed until it hit a second time on the front side with something hard, maybe the bus itself or a road block.
The second collision, characterized by extensive frontal damage, bending of the A-pillar, and penetration of the firewall, was the fatal one, possibly causing serious internal or spinal injuries due to the forces involved.

Police experts are investigating two theories: Jirongo’s steering wheel may have been locked remotely causing him to lose control, or he may have been poisoned and lost consciousness.
According to the report, a rear-corner collision does not normally cause the front air bags to deploy.
A second frontal collision should have opened it, which raises questions about the integrity of the sensors and who was sitting in the car.
“The description of a ‘head-on accident with a bus’ implies a single collision in different directions and does not match the evidence,” the report said.
The results directly contradict previous media reports, stating that the incident was a two-stage event: a first rear-corner collision followed by a second frontal crash.
4. Nation Today
The Kiswahili newspaper reported on the position of the EALA Member of Parliament Winnie Odinga about the 2027 General Election.
Winnie, the daughter of the late former prime minister, announced that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will field a presidential candidate in the next election.
Speaking in Murang’a County on Saturday, December 13, Winnie also dismissed claims of factions within ODM, saying the party continues to be led by a united leadership under Oburu Oginga.
“I don’t know where you saw those groups. The leader of the party is my uncle. I love him. He is the only father I have left. There is no day I would be in the group, and he is not there. He is the head of my family, and I am always with him,” Winnie said.
