Jirongo died in a fatal accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru road on Saturday, December 13.
He was driving out Nakuru heading to Nairobi when his Mercedes-Benz collided head-on with a passenger bus capable of carrying 45 people in Karai, Naivasha, around 9 am.
After the accident, the bus driver claimed that the accident could not be avoided after Jirongo’s car allegedly tried to overtake other vehicles on the busy road.

What did Jirongo’s leaked conversation reveal?
As the nation tries to come to terms with the tragedy, one of Jirongo’s closest associates and political student, Lorna Simatwa, leaked a private WhatsApp conversation showing some of their last communications days before his death.
From the conversation, it is clear that Lorna loved and respected Jirongo a lot, seeing him as her political guardian who directed her journey and shared political positions with her.
In one of the earlier conversations, Lorna sent Jirongo a picture of a Land Rover fully decorated with logos United Democratic Party (UDP), and Jirongo received it with joy.
“It looks very good, my love. I will give you all my help, my love,” Jirongo answered him.
Later, Lorna asked him about the colors to use on the campaign t-shirts, and Jirongo promised to answer her.
Their last conversation took place on December 5, when Lorna shared another campaign poster. Jirongo responded briefly but optimistically, writing:
“Good afternoon…..Tuesday.”
Sadly, that message was the last one Jirongo ever sent to him.
After the news of his death spread, Lorna returned to their conversation, hoping that the news was not true and that he would respond.
“Good morning, Mhesh. People are calling me to tell me that you are dead, and I know they are lying. Please answer my calls and confirm,” he wrote, but got no response.

Lorna also shared a touching message, admitting she is still struggling to come to terms with his death after calling him several times to no avail.
“Where should I start, Mhesh? Here in Busia, what am I going to tell the people? What will happen to the plans we had regarding our party? What will be the fate of my political position now? And the agreement we reached? You promised to support me throughout my political journey, right?” he wrote.
He continued to describe Jirongo as his party leader, guardian and friend, adding that his death has left him with deep sorrow and doubts about his future.
Lorna attached the message to a series of photos of them together.
