On Saturday, December 13, social media was abuzz with reports that the MP was admitted to a Nairobi medical centre.

The silence of the prospective governor of Nairobi amid the rumors did not help much to clarify the situation as Kenyans wanted to know how he is doing.

In a statement published a few minutes after noon, the young politician appeared to confirm reports that he was ill.

That member of parliament Embakasi Mashariki revealed that he was on the road to recovery, thanking Kenyans for showing their care and concern for his health.

“My fellow Kenyans, I sincerely appreciate your concern and care. I am recovering well,” Babu said.

He asked the locals to be calm and be ready to follow the guidance he says will come soon, noting the disappointment and hopes of the locals.

Meanwhile, some locals raised questions about the chants of his name in recent events, which Siaya senator Oburu Oginga dismissed as politically tainted.
