The gospel singer died while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on November 10.
Joyce recently revealed shocking details that happened before her daughter’s death, including a text message she had sent her days before.
What does Bayo’s mother want from the DPP?
Through the law firm Omenke and Andeje and Company Advocates, Joyce said that her family was saddened by the sudden death of her daughter.
In the letter, Bayo’s mother has requested an investigation into her daughter’s death as it was very difficult for them to understand how their daughter died.
The family suspected that there was nonsense in their daughter’s death because she had never been sick or shown any signs of illness.
“We represent Joyce Wairimu Mbugua, the mother of Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua aka Betty Bayo, and on her firm instructions we want to address you as below. The family has had to go through unbearable pain by accepting the fact that the deceased, who never showed any illness, would die in a mysterious way. The family suspects a foul hand in the death of the deceased based on the following basic reasons,” part of the letter said.
The family outlined four reasons in support of their request for an inquest. First, he had no history of the underlying condition.
Through the family’s lawyer, Joyce revealed that they had been denied Bayo’s autopsy report. Also, he further claimed that his daughter was buried quickly to hide some of the facts that may have led to her death.

The family is now asking the Inspector General of Police to initiate an investigation into the circumstances of their relative’s death in accordance with Article 26 (3), 35 and 157 (4) of the Constitution of Kenya.
“Therefore, the family shows their deep disdain and therefore requests you to tell the Inspector General to speed up and initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua – popularly known as Betty Bayo,” the letter reads in part.
What was Bayo’s last message to his mother?
In other news, Joyce had revealed her daughter’s last message, claiming that her marriage to Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, was on the rocks.
He further added that his daughter had been attacked before. Joyce also expressed her desire to raise her grandchildren.
Joyce noted that she preferred her grandchildren to stay with their aunts as she prepares to return to Kenya.
