On Saturday, December 6, part of the youth of the Democratic Union (UDA) accused Gachagua of pretending to be the king of Mount Kenya.

Why did the UDA youth accept Kithure Kindiki?

The young people announced the Deputy President Kithur Kindiki as the political leader of the populous region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

They encouraged the leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) “stop showing off” as the king of the area, saying that the result of the Mbeere North by-election was a clear sign of a political leader favored by Mt. Kenya.

According to youth leaders, the recent Mbeere North by-election served as the final referendum on the kingdom of Mt Kenya.

“This was not just a by-election; it was a referendum on who Mt. Kenya trusts to lead its political future. The people spoke loudly, and they chose Prof. Kithure Kindiki,” Peterson Merichi, chairman of the youth league, said.

The group described Leonard Wa Muthende, a candidate publicly supported by Kindiki, as an “outright endorsement” and a “vote-by-vote” statement of the region’s leadership bias.

They praised Kindiki’s decisive and united leadership during the recently hotly contested by-elections.

Is Kindiki the political king of Mt Kenya?

According to youth leaders, the deputy president had used a small vote to prove himself as a political leader in the Mt Kenya region.

“He has proven himself to be a bringer of stability and a great leader of the area. The people have supported him, and we stand firmly behind him,” Merichi said.

According to the group, Gachagua was misleading the public by always claiming to be the political head of the region.

“Anyone who pretends to be the king of Mount Kenya without the order of the people, that is misleading the public,” he said.

Why did Kithure Kindiki praise Mt Kenya MPs

In a related development, Kindiki celebrated the victory of the Democratic Union in the recent by-election for the Mbeere North parliamentary seat.

On Wednesday, December 3, Kindiki welcomed 60 Members of Parliament Kenya First from Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Nakuru, Nairobi and Lamu Counties in his Karen residence.

Kindiki used the meeting to thank the members of parliament for their dedication, commitment, and cooperation which led to the election of Leo Wa Muthende of the UDA as the Mbeere North Constituency Member of Parliament.

Kindiki, who led the campaigns that culminated in Wa Muthende’s victory, said they made sure that the movement remained in line with the issues despite the opponents’ attempts to force them to insult and engage in other unproductive matters.
