“I received a complaint from a company located near the illegal dumping site along Likoni Road. They reported that after several months of peace following the closure of the dumping site when I was the chief environmental officer, the illegal activities had started again,” Mosiria said.

A city hall official revealed that he visited the area to verify the claim and indeed found that the area was highly polluted and unsafe for human breathing.

Mosiria said he will contact the environment department to ensure action is taken against those who throw waste in areas that are not designated.

What actions will be taken against companies involved in illegal waste disposal?

The young senior official said he will ensure that the licenses of private waste service providers involved in illegal waste disposal are revoked.

“I personally visited the area to confirm the report, and in fact, the dumping of waste has started again. The area is very polluted, and the air quality alone is not safe for human breathing. I will take this issue to the Environment team for immediate action so that the area is completely closed. I will also monitor the cancellation of the licenses of the private waste service providers involved, who are illegally dumping waste in this area,” he said.

“We cannot allow anyone to disturb the people of Nairobi in the name of making a living. When we were in office, we had proposed the right solution to help these groups set up a well-organized Recycling Center, where they can earn good income without polluting the environment. That offer of organized assistance and full compliance with the law is still there. As a county government, we must ensure that all our customers live together!” Mosiria added.

What did Mosiria say after being changed?

As previously reported, the young senior official opened up a few days after being assigned to a less influential office by Sakaja.

The former chief environmental officer shared a reflective message on his social media pages, choosing a spiritual path to explain how he is dealing with the change.

In his post, Mosiria quoted a Bible verse that indicated how to find courage and stability from God.

He paired it with a photo of himself standing in the living room, arms raised and eyes raised, a pose that showed he was searching for clarity and strength during the transition.
