MP Ruth Odinga he could not control his emotions following the funeral of his beloved sister, Beryl Achieng’, who died weeks after their brother.
In her tribute, Ruth explained why Achieng’s death was heavy on her, while explaining their relationship.
A section of Kenyans expressed their condolences to the family and begged God to give them the much needed comfort during the mourning period.

Achieng’ was buried at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo on Saturday, December 6, after he died on November 25 following a long battle with cancer.
The mother of three, much loved by her family and friends, died just weeks after the death of their brother, the former prime minister Raila Odingaon October 15.
What happened at Beryl Achieng’s grave?
At the cemetery, the family seemed overwhelmed with grief.

For Ruth, who used to consider her sister as a friend and a sincere adviser, the pain was not difficult.
“For me, it was very difficult because, apart from the blood we shared, he was the only older brother around me when I was growing up. This is a special person that we buried today – a woman who loved without compromise. She loved peace, and at the same time, she was cheerful,” he said.
Ruth cried as she asked why Achieng’ had to die.
Although he has always shown strength, the end of saying goodbye defeated him forever.
This sad moment touched many Kenyans, who showed their support to Odinga’s family and prayed that God comfort them and ease their pain.

Did Raila visit Beryl in hospital?
Meanwhile, while eulogizing Achieng’, Raila’s widow Ida Odinga revealed that she barred her husband from visiting the sister.
According to Ida, Achieng’ was in critical condition and she thought Raila would die if she saw his sister in that condition because they were too close.
She also revealed that she did not visit Achieng’ in the hospital after Raila’s death because of the immense pain.
