What had been simmering quietly for months has now come to the fore, with the county’s two top leaders heading in different directions.

Magwanga, who was once a trusted ally, now finds himself on the outside, demanding transparency even as the political temperature around him rises.

In an interview with NTV KenyaMagwanga said that he was ready to face the motion to remove him from power, but he had a denial for Wanga.

“They want to remove me from power; which I am asking you to bring. Let them bring it and see where it will end. If it fails, I will also start mine. Yes. Because he knows me, I know him,” Magwanga warned.

Although the fighting may seem recent, the final stage begins with the Kasipul by-election, an event that has left deep scars within the county’s central government.

When did Wanga and Magwanga fall?

Problems increased when Magwanga supported independent candidate Philip Aroko in the Kasipul race instead of ODM’s Boyd Were, who eventually won.

Magawanga’s decision contradicted the political position of the governor and is widely seen as the spark that reignited the current unrest.

Since then, the relationship between the two leaders has been collapsing with allegations that county executives no longer communicate and county employees have been forced to move between two competing power centers.

Magwanga further accused the county boss of isolating him and disrespecting his office, emphasizing the incidents where he was ignored.

He cited incidents where he says he was deliberately ignored during official county events, saying that it was proof that he had no place in running the county.

“You can remember even when we had DevCon 2025, the governor failed to recognize me but he recognized his husband. He recognized the leader of the majority. That means I have no role in the county,” Magwanga said.

But his complaint goes beyond protocol, claiming that the situation escalated last week when his office was allegedly locked and rowdy youths allegedly planned to attack him.

“My office was closed last Monday, December 1 and thugs were placed in the work area to attack me from the crowd. This not only locked out my staff but also the HR staff was also locked out, including even the staff in the CEC office,” Magwanga added.

Behind the scenes, insiders say the divide is bigger than the by-election results, with control of resources, appointments, and the direction the county should take under Wanga’s administration at stake.
