Ida Odinga Strongly Slams Those Who Come to Matangani to Disrupt Beryl Achieng’s Funeral: “Politics Takes Away”

  • Beryl Achieng’s burial proceedings were temporarily put on hold after the youth accompanying politicians started a commotion
  • The MC tried to calm them down, but his words fell on deaf ears, forcing Ida Odinga to stand and get the microphone to bring order
  • The widowed wife of Raila had no sweet words for the youth as she threatened to take action should they continue to disrupt things

The widow of former prime minister Raila Odinga has lectured mourners who showed up to attend the funeral of Beryl Achieng after a commotion happened.

This was after one of the politicians arrived in the compound, accompanied by the youth said to be students at Jaramogi Oginga Science and Technology University.

The MC, Mdomo Baggy, tried to keep everything under control, but the commotion outside made it difficult for people inside the main tent to continue with the tributes.

What did Ida Odinga tell the youth at Beryl’s funeral?

Beryl’s grandchildren were at the podium, ready to read their tributes, when the noise interrupted the whole ceremony.

Ida, who took to the podium to bring the calm, had no sweet words for the students who were making noise and even asked them to leave if they were not planning to be quiet.

“Can you keep quiet. The young people outside the tent. The young people who came with various politicians outside the tent, I am talking on behalf of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s family. I beg you to keep quiet, let us send our sister in peace, we are not interested in your politics. Whether you are supporting a politician or not, we are not interested in that. The thing that has brought us here today is to lay our sister to rest. If you came here, that is not your sister or relative, please go away or keep quiet,” she said.

She cautioned the students against disorganizing the funeral, which was peaceful because they supported politicians.

What did Ruth Odinga say during Beryl’s funeral?

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke featured his son Ruth OdingaSankara Raila Busia, after paying his moving tribute during Bery’s funeral.

He told how his aunt was a mother to him and remembered how she helped them in 2020, during the COVID-19, when his mother was very ill.

Sankara also appealed to Jaramogi clan members to embrace unity and avoid meeting at funerals or during calamities.

He noted that the third generation of their family needed to unite and form a strong family that could raise the next Raila or Beryl.
