The EALA Member of Parliament was invited to the UAE for celebrations that lasted for more than 14 days and involved more than 250 activities.
Why was Winnie in the UAE?
The UAE was celebrating the 54th Anniversary of Eid Al Etihad, an event marking 54 years since the Emirates formed one nation.
The celebration aims to showcase the UAE’s cultural richness, creativity, progress and social resilience.
The daughter of the former prime minister was among the leaders invited to the events.
Winnie wore appropriate clothing during the celebration and was seen talking to various leaders, including the Attorney General of Kenya, Dorcas Oduor.
The late politician’s daughter put aside her usual “tomboy” style, and strictly followed the dress code.
His style of clothing brought him a lot of praise on the internet, many saying that he is following in his father’s footsteps.

Winnie embraced the cultural expectations of the host nation by wearing a green veil and headscarf that matched the spirit of the occasion.
He wrote: “I was delighted to join the Honorable Ambassador and the UAE community in celebrating Al Etihad’s 54th Anniversary. A night of high hospitality and rich culture.”

Uncertainty about his health in October made Kenyans search in large numbers, “Where is Raila Odinga?” One of the most searched songs was Raila’s favourite, “Jamaican Farewell.”
The names of the late politician’s family, including Oburu Oginga, his daughters Winnie and Rosemary, as well as his sister Ruth, appeared among the most searched.
