What motivated Boyd to come to parliament?
The young Member of Parliament explained the losses that have determined his life, including his father, the late Ong’ondo Were, and his mother, the late Immaculate Amoth.
He expressed the seriousness of his absence and grief, promising to continue searching for answers about what happened that led to his father’s brutal murder.
“But that was not the first grave I learned to stand next to. I lost my mother, the late Immaculate Amoth, long before I became the man I know myself to be today. I grew up with the weight of absence, the pain of needing a parent who is no longer there to guide you, pray for you, dream for you. I am looking for truth, closing circles, and justice. It is not the justice of revenge, but the justice that restores honor, respects life, and heals broken communities. I will not take revenge. Revenge cannot raise the dead.” said Boyd.
Were also gave special thanks to the ODM Chairman, Gladys Wangawho assured him of support and held his hand until the end.
“To the sincere friends of Ogai ma milambo, led by our ODM Chairman, Mr. Gladys Wanga, you believed in a young orphan, who was sad when many wrote me off. You filled me with courage, loyalty, and protection of security when grief and responsibility met. I will remain a borrower of gratitude forever,” he added.
