The evening before the by-election, the politician complained about a supposed assassination attempt by senior government officials.
His family and workers were also badly attacked.
Speaking in an interview with Obinna TV on Thursday, December 4, he explained how the incident happened and the effects of the attack on his family.
According to Panyako, the supposed supporters who attacked his family also damaged his cars.
Why was Seth Panyako attacked in his hotel?
On the night of voting, Panyako was at Kaburengo Down Hill Hotel when suspected supporters went to the hotel and claimed they “wanted to burn it down.”
Furthermore, he claimed that the followers hacked KSh 1.2 million and claimed that a famous Member of Parliament led them to his room.
“I have bought a hotel from his wife. He is the only one who knows the room where my wife and I are sleeping. He was given a contract by the government to lead the followers. So, apart from politics, the conflict between me and him is that I have bought a hotel, and he is not with his wife at the moment,” he said.
Why did Seth Panyako cry during the Malava by-election?
When asked why he felt so sad, Panyako explained that he was in a difficult time. Panyako, the third child in a family of 11 children, emphasized that he too has feelings and crying is not a problem.
“I was crying to get people’s attention to know what is going on in Malava, when I told the people of Nandi to take everything I got angry, what I went through at that time needed to boil so that the world would know that it is not an election in Malava but a war.
It also shows that I am human; I have failed. I have feelings. I am not a stone. I was strong all the time, but sometimes it comes to a time when you are fighting the whole government, and I was left alone at that time,” he explained.
In addition to the attacks, Panyako claimed that his counting station was destroyed.
Despite spending about KSh 50 million on the campaign, he lost the election.
However, he claimed that he is a Member of Parliament and will be sworn in as such.
“I will be sworn in. Wait for my return home. That way, you will know that Baba is still alive. I have seen what Raila Odinga went through. And if I have wronged him in any way, I am sorry,” he said, adding that there were efforts to persuade him to enter the Government as Secretary General.
