Speaking on Tuesday, December 2, Aladwa dismissed reports that he will choose the former Trade minister for the top seat in Nairobi.
The Nairobi ODM chairman emphasized that he will contest for the Nairobi governor seat in 2027 and that he will not accept to be anyone’s running mate.
Was George Aladwa forced to cancel his contract with Kuria?
However, in his Twitter message, the former Minister of Commerce claimed that the Makadara MP was forced to reject his offer.
According to Kuria, Aladwa was called by a person with a powerful office and ordered to denounce their agreement regarding the Nairobi gubernatorial ticket in 2027.
Kuria criticized the people who allegedly forced Aladwa, saying that his intention is to resolve issues affecting Nairobi County.
The former minister said the action of unnamed people who forced Aladwa to change his mind has made him realize what is at stake for Nairobi’s politics before the 2027 General Election.
“George Aladwa was called yesterday evening by very powerful office holders and ordered to reject our agreement on the Nairobi gubernatorial ticket. I respect his decision. I want to tell those forces to calm down. I want to be the Governor of Nairobi to save this falling city. But it is not a matter of life and death for me. Again by doing this you have let the cat out too early. Now we know your game plan for 2027. Thank you very much!” Kuria said.
Did George Aladwa criticize Rigathi Gachagua?
In his speech, Aladwa also strongly criticized the remarks of the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua about how the united opposition team will participate in the Nairobi election seats in 2027.
Speaking in Kariobangi North, Gachagua claimed that he had agreed with the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka allocate several seats, including that of the governor.
Aladwa denied Gachagua’s remarks, insisting that Nairobi is an international county that cannot be ruled by one community.

Can Gachagua support Babu Owino in running for governor?
While in Nairobi, the former vice president hinted at endorsing Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino for the governorship seat.
Speaking on Wednesday, December 3, Gachagua asked Babu to consider joining the Democratic People’s Party (DCP) before the 2027 elections.
The DCP leader claimed that President William Ruto was planning to expel Babu and the Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna from the ODM party.
However, Gachagua assured the young politicians that he will have no problem supporting them in 2027 if they join the opposition.
