He was speaking at the DCP headquarters in Nairobi when he welcomed the new leaders of his party elected from the recent by-elections.
Gachagua claimed that President William Ruto has bought ODM from Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay governor Gladys Wangawho is also the national chairman of the party.
Has the ODM party been sold to Ruto?
He claimed that the two leaders had already received an advance payment from Ruto in what he described as the sale of the party.
Gachagua indicated the absence of Junet Mohammed the day ODM founder Raila Odinga died, suggesting that it was intentional.
“Junet was with Raila all day. But the day Raila died, he did not go to collect his body. He arrived at the airport and pretended to be sick, and stayed behind to sell ODM. The brokers have sold ODM,” he said.
Gachagua expressed sympathy for ODM, noting that the party’s historic strongholds are beginning to disappear.
He highlighted DCP’s victory in Narok Town and Kiza East, while Ruto’s United Democratic Party (UDA) won the Purko Ward seat.
“In Kiza East you emerged number 9. In Kariobangi you emerged fourth. ODM is dead. Ruto has destroyed ODM, and we are very sorry,” Gachagua said.
Did Ruto promise to end ODM?
He added that when he was still serving as Ruto’s deputy, the President told him about his intention to weaken ODM.
Gachagua warned ODM against allowing what he described as a sale of the party, warning that it would leave the party as a minor player locked in a few seats in Luo Nyanza.

Will Gachagua support Sifuna and Babu in 2027?
In a related incident, Gachagua hinted that he would support Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino in the 2027 election if they were pushed out of ODM by Ruto.
He welcomed both leaders to his DCP should they leave ODM.
Gachagua highlighted Sifuna’s performance as a Nairobi senator and said the DCP will have no problem giving him a party ticket to defend his seat.
He also advised Babu Owino, who is eyeing the Nairobi governor seat, to join DCP if he feels he is not accepted in ODM.
The former vice president further suggested that both leaders may consider joining the Wiper party Kalonzo Musyoka if they feel bad in DCP.
