In a series of videos circulating online, the student identified as Perry Sharon Adhiambo, burst into tears outside the university administration area after realizing that she would not appear on the 48th graduation list scheduled for December 18.
Speaking to TUKO.co.kethe Bachelor of Education student said his name was left out of the graduation draft for the first time because of misplaced subjects.
He said all the second semester of third year courses disappeared from his website, which prompted him to seek help from the ICT department.
Why a Moi University student may not be able to graduate again
On Friday, November 28, the second draft was released and his name appeared. However, the listing showed he had a fee balance, something he said had never happened before.
“I thought it was a mistake. When I saw my name on the list, I rushed to my student’s website to confirm. That’s when I found a fee balance of KSh 7,000. I didn’t know where it came from, so I printed my fee statement and planned to visit the accounting office on Monday,” he said.
Perry, a lover of movements who was crowned Miss Moi University 2025, he had previously postponed his studies in the third year before teaching practice.
After resuming, he finished his training with a different group.
He told it TUKO.co.ke that his published fee statement was incomplete, missing everything from the first year to part of the third year.
The information showed that he owes KSh 6,000, while his gate has KSh 7,000.
“Today, Monday, I went to the finance office and talked to the sisters there, you know how they can be, they treat students coldly, with behavior and contempt, I explained how this balance of fees suddenly appeared even though it was not there before,” he said.
Perry said the officers insisted there was nothing wrong and he needed to pay. He demanded an explanation. According to him, the officer said his previous group paid KSh 12,000 for attachment, while the group he joined later paid KSh 24,000.
The officer told him that was the reason for the balance, adding that it should have been higher.

Is the list of Moi University graduates closed?
Perry said the official later dismissed him and asked him to return on Wednesday, Thursday, or the following week, despite knowing the final list of graduates would already be out.
“They knew I was desperate because I failed to graduate last year, the lady told me to leave her office and said to come back next week, but the money still had to be paid, there was no alternative, she went back to her laptop after speaking harshly to me, people were looking at me, I felt ashamed, I went out,” he said.
He said his family is struggling financially and doesn’t know how to raise the balance of the sudden fee. Before this issue came up, he was already struggling to collect the KSh 7,000 required for the graduation and dress fees, as well as other expenses related to the ceremony.
“I decided to record TikTok videos because I know I’m not the only one. Many others have faced the same problem, but some have not been charged extra even after going through the process,” he said.
“Where should I get the money at such a short notice? With my financial situation and the situation at home, I can’t say I need the money now and I expect to get it. I have to work hard to find it,” he added tearfully.
According to the notice seen by TUKO.co.ke of December 1, the head of the School of Education, Anne Kisilu, said the list of those who qualified was closed on Monday at 5:00 p.m.
