A heartbroken 31-year-old Kenyan woman is seeking urgent help to bring her daughter home to Kenya after she was forced to leave Saudi Arabia.

Penina Wanjiru, resident of Luck in Nakuru, he went to Saudi Arabia in 2019 to seek better opportunities.
While working there, she became pregnant two years later and gave birth to her daughter, Precious, in 2022.
“I didn’t go to the hospital to give birth to my daughter. I was told I would need a C-section, but I knew that if I went to the hospital, I would be reported and deported. I didn’t want that. Fortunately, I managed to give birth without any problems,” he said.
Wanjiru explained that when her son was seven months old, she started leaving him at the childcare center while she went to work.

Mother and daughter continued to live in Saudi Arabia, with Wanjiru hiding her son from the authorities as she struggled to care for them both.
However, when Precious turned three, the police raided her home, took her to the embassy, and ordered Wanjiru to leave the country.
“I was not given time to pack my things, and my daughter was taken. I told the embassy staff that I had a child and they promised me that she would be brought to me, but that did not happen. I insisted that I would not leave without her, but I was forced and even beaten,” Wanjiru recalled.
When she arrived in Kenya, she received a heartbreaking message from the woman at the Precious daycare center, informing her that they were planning to send her daughter to an orphanage, as the process of sending her to Kenya was taking too long.

Why did Wanjiru leave his little daughter in Saudi Arabia?
Wanjiru was told that a DNA test was required before her daughter could be allowed to enter Kenya.
Despite many attempts to get help from the Department of Foreign Affairs for the Diaspora, Wanjiru said the DNA testing process is still unclear and poorly understood, even nine months after she was forced to give up her young child.

“I’ve tried every way. I’ve contacted my MP and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but I still haven’t received any help. The last time I spoke to my daughter was in April. I’m depressed, I’ve been sick, and I’ve lost a lot of weight. I need help to bring my child home,” said the sad mother.
According to the report Citizen TVthe Kenyan government reportedly refuses to register children born to mothers in Saudi Arabia out of wedlock unless they undergo DNA tests.
This policy has left many children without documents and without citizenship, preventing their mothers who work in Saudi Arabia from returning home with them.
