Video Shows KCSE Candidate Died in Church Few Days Before His Wedding

A family in Kipkelion, Kericho county, continues to mourn the sudden and heartbreaking death of their daughter, Dorcas Cherono.

Cherono was a Form Four student at Kipkelion Girls Secondary School, preparing to take her Form Four national examination (KCSE).

She was also expected to marry Brian Rotich, and preparations for their wedding were already underway. Tragically, a few days before her wedding, the girl collapsed and died in church.

How did Dorcas Cherono die?

A video surfaced on social media showing the moment Cherono passed away. In the clip, the young lady and the choir members stood at the altar, singing hymns.

The members of the church were heard singing and dancing in a beautiful voice, not knowing the tragedy that was about to happen. While in the middle of the song worship, Cherono suddenly collapsed and fell on the altar and lost consciousness.

According to his fiancee, Rotich, Cherono had gathered the youth before his death and talked to them about holding on to Christ and His work.

“He said he was about to leave. No one understood what he meant. They thought he meant he was going home. Then he asked them to stop so they could sing together,” Rotich said.

Cherono was busy during the song session and had even shared her excitement about her upcoming pre-wedding celebrations.

When was Cherono and Rotich’s wedding planned?

Rotich, from Rongai area, Nakurusaid he was on his way to see Cherono’s parents when he received the sad news.

“His church elder told me my future wife is no more. I was confused and disbelieving. It broke my heart,” he added.

The couple had planned their wedding on December 18, 2025, in Cherono village, Kipkelion, Kericho County.

Netizens commented on the video of Cherono’s last moments, with some speculating that high blood pressure may have caused him to faint, while others suggested the need for CPR training in such situations.

Queen Versity: “His blood pressure was high, causing a heart attack, that’s what I think. May he rest in peace.”

Gracie: “People should learn how to do CPR, maybe it would help.”

JJ: “Someone falls, and people are still too busy singing instead of rushing to help.”

How did a man living in Nairobi die?

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that Francis Inaweti fell ill suddenly and sought refuge in a church in the Mukuru shanty town.

This happened after his body began to swell, while he suffered from constant pain in his head and neck following threats from one of his neighbors.

Francis said they went to the church for an exorcism, but sadly he passed away before he could recover.
