A Kisii Member of Parliament is facing trial after a video emerged showing him attacking a 36-year-old man.

In the video, the victim, named Omariba Moriasi, was sitting in a restaurant, enjoying his meal, when a member of parliament suddenly approached him.
Moriasi was forced to defend himself, while other customers, including an employee, intervened to separate the two.
The altercation lasted a few minutes before the victim was dragged out of the restaurant.
Why did an MP attack a man in Kisii?
Speaking to Citizen TVMoriasi explained that he had already reported the attack to the police, but the MP had not yet been arrested.
He revealed that the MP attacked him alleging that he was interfering in his personal and private life.

“He came at me fast, shouting that I must respect him and accused me of having an affair with his girlfriend. Then he started beating me,” Moriasi said.
He added that the MP was accompanied by his bodyguard and another person.
Moriasi’s lawyer, Benard Atancha, questioned why the MP was not arrested despite a complaint being filed the same day at the Kisii Police Station.
“We have followed all procedures, but the police have not arrested the person who attacked my client with unknown persons in Java in Kisii Town,” said Atancha. He further expressed his concern about Moriasi’s safety, suggesting that the lawmaker may still be a threat and may want to cause more harm.
