The young man, who contested through the ODM party, defeated his main rival Philip Aroko by a majority of votes.
He is in the running to take over as Member of Parliament for Kasipul following the death of his father earlier this year
After the election supervisor announced the young man as an elected Member of Parliament, residents erupted with joy at Agoro Sare High School, which was used as a counting station.
How did Boyd Were’s mother celebrate the victory?
In a video circulated online, the mother of the Kasipul Member of Parliament expressed her great joy after her son’s victory.
The mother, who has been supporting her son in the campaign and even attended his meetings urging the residents of Kasipul to vote for him, could not hide her happiness.
Boyd’s mother’s two wives attended some of the campaign rallies wearing matching orange outfits to show solidarity and support for their son.
Together with two other women, they laughed and fought with fists of joy, announcing loudly: “This seat is back, this is already over,” said one of them while others joined in the celebration.
How many votes did Boyd Were get?
The official results announced by Rebecca Abwakhu, the administrator of IEBC of Kasipul, showed that Boyd received 16,819 votes.
His opponent Aroko finished second with 8,476 votes.
Kenyans congratulate Boyd Were
Many commented saying Were’s spirit lives on through Boyd’s victory, while raising hopes for unity and progress for Kasipul.
Samson Ochieng’ Otieno:
“I am happy for Boyd’s victory, even though he will only work for a quarter of the term. 2027 is when the real competition will begin, everyone will want his seat. One thing is for him to make sure he finishes the projects his father left. If he just follows the ODM song, he will have a challenge in 2027. But for now, the work is done, let’s start preparing for 2027 by working intelligently.”
Amoit Cotton:
“Thank you Mama Gladys Wanga for helping your son. Respect for Dad. Congratulations!”
Nyar Mbita Rusinga:
“Ong’ondo Were is smiling up there. His spirit still lives.”
Netty Nyar Japuonj:
“Congratulations Boyd. Nyar Lango and Nyar Meru, thank you for the great work you did for your son.”
Ochiel Massesse:
“Humble yourself before the big people of Kasipul. Unite them, use the language of reconciliation and focus on development. Otherwise, the situation will change in 2027. Long live ODM.”

Why did the Kasipul Member of Parliament seat remain vacant?
Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that the Kasipul MP seat remained vacant after Boyd’s father was brutally murdered.
He was shot by people on motorcycles who allegedly followed him from Parliament.
Several people were arrested, including Aroko, who was later released and entered the Kasipul parliamentary race.
The ODM party nominated his son Were and campaigned hard for him to continue their strength in the area.
