Kakamega Mother Carries Her Daughter to Bobaboda After Completing KCSE: “Parental Love”

Malava, Kakamega: Jerusa, a woman who picked up her Form Four graduate daughter from school, said the gesture was important to her, as she did the same when she took her daughter to Form One.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Jerusa revealed that her husband, who was a boda boda operator, died in 2017 after being diagnosed with cerebral malaria.

In shared photos TikTokthis woman is seen boldly riding a boda, which is naturally reserved for men, while her daughter sits behind, proudly completing her KCSE at Shamitha Girls’ High School.

Along with his daughter, Jerusa was also carrying a metal box that marked the end of fourth form education for his daughter.

“I raised him alone; I took him to school by motorcycle, and when he finished the exams, I thought I should do it again to bring him home the same way,” he said.

What happened to Jerusa’s husband

“My husband showed me how to ride a motorcycle before he died in 2017, and left me a widow with four children under my care.”

The first child is a daughter who completed the fourth form, then there is a daughter in the ninth grade, a child in the seventh grade and the youngest is in the third grade.

“We were told that the condition was caused by his work and being outside for a long time in the cold,” he said.

After her husband’s death, Jerusa tried driving a bodaboda for a while, but eventually left it to someone else to earn a living.

After Jerusa’s photos spread online, many people were touched and some started sending him money through his number.

“I want to tell women who have been left by their wives or widows like me to be strong. If you have children looking after you, push yourself in life,” he said.

“Do everything you can for your children to live a better life. Be your child’s protector; don’t be afraid or show people that you can be pressured,” he added.

Jerusa is worried about her ninth grade son, who has already passed the national exams and is now hoping to join high school.

“She wants to go to a good school like her sister, but I don’t have any money. I’m looking for help for her education, and I can also teach her if I could get another motorcycle,” he said.
