Kanyari listed the donations made at Betty Bayo’s funeral, which caused some Kenyans to question his intentions.

“Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta gave KSh 1 million, while the former vice president gave KSh 300,000. President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, each gave KSh 5 million,” said Kanyari.

“Then there are ordinary Kenyans who made various donations, including KSh 100 and KSh 300.”

The preacher encouraged his believers to continue donating through the WhatsApp group they created, noting that donations were already close to KSh 500,000.

“If you want to be included in the group, cry with those who suffered a tragedy.”

Kanyari warned believers not to stop donating for the cause.

“Remember, today I am in a difficult situation, and tomorrow it could be you.”

Kanyari said that he questioned the people he had given money to why they did not contribute, noting that he always gives.

“There was a parliamentary candidate who came and gave us KSh 20,000 and he didn’t say that his mother had cancer. I saw today that he put me in a WhatsApp group because his mother died. I told my secretary that I will go to Narok – I don’t know him and I have never seen him. He has been my social media friend. But because he came to Betty’s funeral and gave money, I will go to Narok and give KSh 100,000. The person who cries with you is a friend yours truly.”
