On Thursday, November 23, Aladwa called on ODM party leader and Siaya senator, Oburu Oginga, to speak to Winnie, the late former prime minister’s daughter. Raila Odinga.
What did Winnie Odinga say about Oburu Oginga?
The EALA Member of Parliament recently caused controversy within the party after claiming that some ODM officials were planning to sell the party before the 2027 General Election.
During the party’s 20th anniversary celebration in Mombasa, Winnie seemed to express doubts about the ability of her uncle, Oburu, to lead the party in the right direction.
“We need to go back to the people and organize a National Meeting of Representatives to see who the people want to be elected to manage the relations of the wider government,” said Winnie.
To reduce the growing tension in the party, Aladwa wants ODM to create space for Winnie so that she can be involved in the day-to-day running of the party’s activities.
What position should Winnie Odinga be given in ODM?
According to the MP for Makadara, the fourth position of Deputy Party Leader should be created and reserved for Raila’s daughter.
He claimed that the EALA MP will bring new ideas to the party and at the same time resolve the existing leadership conflicts.
“This is my opinion. ODM should create another position of deputy leader of the party for Winnie Odinga. Let us have four deputy leaders of the party and everything will be fine,” said Aladwa as reported by the Nation.
Aladwa, who is the chairman of the ODM Nairobi branch, said that representatives from Nairobi will present the issue during the National Representative Conference (NDC) next year.

Was Oburu legally elected as ODM leader?
At the same time, some ODM leaders called on Oburu to resign as party leader.
Including Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, said that Oburu’s appointment did not follow the party’s constitution.
They argued that the decision should be made by the National Assembly of Representatives, not the National Governing Council.
Section 6.6.2 (b) of the ODM Constitution states that a special session of the National Assembly of Representatives must be held to elect a new leader of the party whenever a vacancy occurs due to death, resignation, removal from membership or failure to perform duties.
Amisi wondered why the three ODM deputy leaders were ignored, noting that they have the authority to take action in the absence of the party leader.
