Otieno was tasked with delivering an Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max to a customer when he sadly died.

The father of three’s phone was switched off shortly after he arrived at his destination. A few hours later, news spread that he had been found dead under the bed.

Tony Mwenda, a colleague of the late in the transport business, recounted their last conversation before Otieno’s death.

Anthony Olwal: It has emerged that the customer who ordered the phone from the slain bodaboda driver was a female

“He called me in the morning, a few minutes after 3:30 in the morning. He told me he had a plan to deliver. The customer wanted the latest Apple phone. He asked me to get the phone from another seller. I went to my friend Ken and got him a phone from Otieno. Since we can’t afford such high-end phones and we don’t usually trade them, I had to borrow them from Ken,” he said.

Mwenda gave the phone to Otieno to go and sell it so that he could make a profit, after that they would pay Ken.

He noted that the phone is currently under the custody of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), and they are not sure if they will find it.

“We don’t even know how we’re going to pay for it. That’s the biggest challenge,” he added.

Netizens comment on the death of Anthony Olwal

Social media users flooded the comments section, sharing their mixed views on the ongoing story.

veejay001:

“This trick is very common in Kenya, the scammers pretend to ‘take you to a relative to confirm the product, then pay’. Now look, the buyers have killed someone’s child because a male scammer who calls himself ‘Grace’ from Eldoret convinced the deceased to enter the trap.”

dickensojiambo275:

“Arrest the criminals! Where murder is still illegal, there should be justice. If it was a member of parliament who was killed, the suspects would have already been arrested. DCI, stop making excuses, there is CCTV, the faces are clear.”

Anthony Olwal’s last CCTV

Separately, CCTV footage of Otieno’s last movements and the faces of the suspects emerged.

When Otieno entered the building, he looked confused, as if he was looking for a house number.

He kept checking his phone, seemingly expecting a call or text from a customer to guide his next move.

The suspects were later seen leaving the building through a separate exit after killing Otieno, a father of three.
