President William Ruto said Kenyans will not have to pay more taxes or borrow money to finance the KSh 5 trillion big projects that the government has planned to make the nation world class.
During his State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, the president announced the establishment of the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund.
He explained that these funds will provide innovative financing for the projects.
Ruto said his administration has identified important initiatives that he believes will change the course of Kenya’s development.
These include building irrigation dams, building more than 30,000 kilometers of roads, investing in human resources, and developing energy projects that will add 10,000 megawatts to the national grid.

In their assessment of Ruto’s State of the Nation Address, the Opposition accused him of avoiding public anger, ignoring the grievances of Gen-Z, and making empty promises.
Ruto dismissed criticism from the Opposition and praised his leadership for bringing about major reforms.
However, the Opposition described the youth who flocked to the streets and online in 2024 and this year as a generation driven by moral rebellion against corruption, economic hardship, and political apathy.
This was part of the statement made by the leader of Wiper Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kenyan Members of Parliament (MPs) have questioned the continued existence of the Hustler Fund despite the discovery that more than KSh 12.6 billion in loans could be lost.
Members of Parliament serving in the Special Finance Committee claimed that the money was transferred to fake accounts because some borrowers had multiple SIM cards, which they threw away after receiving the money.
The MPs met with the CEO of Hustler Fund Henry Tanui to discuss the audit questions, as explained by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu.
Tanui admitted that only KSh 4.4 billion out of the KSh 14 billion allocated to the Fund by the National Treasury was circulating.

At least 25 new political parties have been provisionally registered in the past few months, and more than 30 more have applied for registration ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The publication pointed out that the steps to register new political parties indicate growing concern in the political field, especially due to primaries in various areas where candidates have repeatedly failed to be elected.
The Political Parties Fund distributes money to parties that did not receive money in previous referendums.
This follows the enactment of the Political Parties Act 2022.
