The document, prepared as an official statement from the party’s National Central Committee, claimed that the party expelled them Eugene Malwa and Eseli Simiyu.
Did DAP-K make any changes in the party?
Furthermore, it claimed that the party installed Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya as party leader on a temporary basis.
The information spread widely in the political pages, leading to new rumors about the state of relations within the party.
It referred to the emergency NEC meeting held on November 12, 2025, citing various constitutional provisions to support the alleged decisions.
“Therefore, and in accordance with the mandate given to the NEC under Article 10, the Committee further resolved to fill the vacancies until the next National Assembly,” the false statement read.
The document named Natembeya as the new leader of the party, Ayub Savula as the deputy leader of the party, and Seth Kuka Panyako as the secretary general.
Additionally, it called on the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to update its records, reflecting the alleged changes. “We request the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to update the party’s records accordingly and acknowledge receipt of these changes as required under Article 20 of the Political Parties Act. We remain ready to provide any additional documents your office may require,” read the statement.
The message gained traction because it followed several months of tension between leaders in the political party.
How did DAP-K respond to the demands of party change?
DAP-K quickly moved to counter the message, posting a photo of the notice with a bold “fake” stamp affixed to it.
The seal appeared in bright red, covering the body of the document, a tacit message to the public to treat the notice as misinformation.
The Malwa-led party suggested the timing of the forged letter indicated a planned effort to disrupt the party’s campaign in the Malava by-election.
The Malava by-election was caused by the death of Malulu Injendi, who had represented the state until his death.
Panyako, whose name appeared in the fake notice as acting general secretary, is contesting for the Malava seat.
The party suggested that the circulation of the document was seen as an attempt to destabilize the team as it increased its mobilization in the state.
“FAKE! Eyes on the Lava Ball. No obstacles!” DAP-K confirmed its position.
