Matengo is facing charges of assault and public violence following the fight that took place in several videos that went viral online.

What Ruth Odinga said about the chaos in Kibuye

Odinga expressed his concern about what he called criminal conduct and an act that seemed to involve sexual violence.

“I am concerned that in addition to the clearly stated criminal allegations, this was also a typical case of sexual violence against the victim and her female companion with the apparent involvement of male perpetrators.”

He said the issue must be addressed through proper legal channels, stressing that accountability is important in preventing such incidents.

“Once these issues are established, through due process, the necessary punishment must be imposed as a misdemeanor.”

The MP encouraged calm among businessmen, community leaders, and county authorities, warning against resorting to violence in Kisumu’s commercial areas.

“Violence should not be condoned or tolerated in any way. And, regardless of where it comes from and who is involved.”

Why Ruth Odinga Did he ask the Kisumu County Government? Odinga noted that due to the approaching political season, Kisumu prioritizes peace, especially for women, who are often vulnerable during political contests.

He emphasized the importance of protecting the Kibuye Market, the main economic hub that supports thousands of traders, and warned that physical conflict undermines life, especially for the most vulnerable.

Odinga also expressed disappointment that a female leader was at the center of the allegations.

“It is very sad when a woman in a leadership position is accused of planning violence against her fellow women. As leaders, women should not imitate patterns of aggression.”

He called for greater responsibility and greater reflection among women in leadership, saying they should not oppose political fraud and maintain the rights of all businessmen, regardless of their political affiliation.

What Ruth Odinga requested from the police

Odinga also appealed to the security agencies and the court to conduct the case transparently and to protect the witnesses from threats.

“I will personally follow this case to make sure that justice is done and seen to be done, not like others that are sometimes dismissed because of extraordinary challenges in the investigation and trial process.”

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to ensuring that Kismu remains a place where the rule of law is upheld and violence is not tolerated.

He added:

“Under my watch, Kismumu will not tolerate or condone acts of violence.”
