Mbarire made an official complaint at the Ishiara Police Station, accusing Gachagua of planning to disrupt the meetings UDA.

He also claimed that the mobilized group was given shirts with the UDA logo with the aim of trying to associate the UDA with its candidate Leonard Muthende, should violence occur.

“Those who are mobilized are led by the leader of the DCP party, Rigathi Gachagua. For the past one month, Mbeere North has enjoyed peace campaigns. It is sad that Gachagua and his allies are planning to disturb that peace. We do not want any kind of violence. Violence will be messy, and you cannot win by using violence,” said Mbarire.

Why does the UDA want Gachagua to be prevented from campaigning

UDA’s lawyer, Adrian Kamotho, agreed with Mbarire’s concerns, fearing the presence of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) in the Mbeere North by-election.

According to Kamotho, DCP has no candidate in the Mbeere North by-election; therefore, they can create chaos because they have not obeyed the convention of electoral ethics and IEBC.

The UDA asked the election commission to prevent Gachagua and his DCP party from campaigning on behalf of the Deputy President candidate.
