Will Kithure Kindiki be Ruto’s Deputy President in 2027?
However, speaking in Nandi County on Sunday, November 16, Cherargei dismissed reports that Ruto would leave Kindiki to woo ODM.
The senator with an encouraging voice said that the position of Deputy President has been reserved for the party UDAdue to their work agreement with the ODM party.

The senator said that the position of Deputy President in 2027 has been decided, and ODM can negotiate for other executive positions.
“I have seen some people discussing that if there will be negotiations in the government of a broad coalition, but they should not forget that there are two positions that we will not guarantee in the coalition that may be formed; the position of the President and the Deputy President. I want to tell them to give any other position, but we will not guarantee those two in any negotiation,” Cherargei said.
The UDA senator assured Kindiki that he will remain in that position as thanks for supporting the President.
Cherargei said that any political party that supports a broad coalition government should consider the position of Deputy President.
In addition, he signaled Kindiki to replace Ruto in 2032, saying that the former Tharaka Nithi senator has the qualities to lead the country.
“In any negotiations that will build a coalition towards 2027 and 2032, Ruto’s Deputy President will be Professor Kindiki. This will be as a thank you to him for standing with our son Ruto. I want to tell my colleagues in the broad coalition government or on the other side that the top two seats have already been taken,” he said.

Did Mt Kenya MPs tell Ruto before the 2027 election?
In related news, a section of MPs from Mount Kenya East opposed ODM’s claims ahead of the 2027 General Election.
During a meeting of grassroots leaders on Monday, November 3, seven MPs warned Ruto against leaving Kindiki as his Deputy in 2027.
Members of Parliament who were present at the meeting were Mugambi Rindikiri, Mpuru Aburi, George Mutunga, Dan Kiili, Julius Taitumu, Shadrack Mwiti, Special Member of Parliament Dorothy Muthoni, and the representative of Meru women, Karambu Kailemia.
Amid speculations that Ruto may choose an ODM leader as his presidential candidate in 2027, the MPs threatened to leave the President if Kindiki is replaced.
The MPs asked the Orange party to forget about the position of Deputy President, insisting that it concerns the Mt Kenya East region.
