Meetings to plan the funeral of Kikuyu gospel musician Betty Bayo continue as mourners plan to give the artist a befitting burial.

The popular singer died on Monday, November 10, leaving his family, colleagues and friends heartbroken.

His sudden death at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) not only left a void in his family but also in the music industry.
Meetings have continued to be held before his funeral on Thursday, November 20, at his property in Mugumo Estate, along Kiambu Road.
During these meetings, mourners remembered a woman who always volunteered and showed up.

“His name is Waitherero. He has been attending Betty Bayo’s funeral meetings since day one, traveling from Kayole to Roasters, Thika Road, every day. Waitherero has happily contributed KSh 100 to each meeting, which has been easily seen,” the Facebook post said.
Karangu Muraya awarded Waitherero KSh 5,000
The woman stood between two men, one a donor and a Kikuyu gospel singer Muraya peanuts.
He stood in the middle of the hall as mourners surrounded him, praising him for his sacrifice throughout.
They wanted to reward him for his dedication and steadfastness, which inspired many and touched hearts.
“Today, the chairman of the funeral committee blessed him with KSh 10,000, while Karangu Muraya gave him KSh 5,000. Other donations were also made to appreciate him, and Waitherero has now left with more than KSh 20,000,” the post said.

The clever gesture was warmly received and celebrated by social media users, who were delighted by the kindness shown to him.

Betty Bayo’s husband, Hiram Tash, speaks
In another story, Betty’s husband, Hiram Gitau, also known as Tash, spoke during his wife’s memorial mass at their home in Edenville.
It was the first time for the widow to speak since the death of her life partner.
