This has sparked anger among Kenyans, with some of them laughing at the possibility of the Ugandan army defeating Kenyan soldiers.

Kenya Ignores Museveni’s Threats

As it is a matter of public interest, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’oei confirmed the country’s commitment to international territorial laws and peaceful diplomacy.

He downplayed those threats, claiming that Kenya would follow the legal framework. He also highlighted the broad objectives of Kenya’s foreign policy under President William Ruto’s government Kenya First.

“We highlighted our relationship with countries in the East African Community, peace and security issues, as well as issues related to the diaspora,” Sing’oei said in a social media post.

Is Uganda capable of fighting Kenya?

In an effort to provide more insight into the issue, political analyst Mark Bichachi spoke about the possibility of Ugandan soldiers fighting with Kenyan soldiers.

Speaking during a special interview with TUKO.co.ke, Bichachi said that Uganda does not have a navy that would fight a war with the Kenyan navy.

He further commented that the Ugandan army does not have enough funding and war equipment.

“Which navy will Museveni use against Kenya? It has no naval capability to speak of. And this will be a maritime issue. Second, his army is not as well funded as Kenya’s. Kenya has more personnel and equipment,” Bichachi said.

The lawyer also said that Uganda, being a landlocked country, depends on countries with access to sea or ocean, like Kenya, to receive goods from abroad by water.

“Even though he is attacking Kenya, how will Uganda receive the goods?” Also, isn’t Uganda part of the East African Community? Don’t we have the same Customs Union? Easy shipping of goods and services? EAC is the solution. He should not cry wolf when there is no forest, moon or night to cry,” Bichachi added.

Political analyst lawyer Philip Mwangale also spoke about the issue. He ignored Museveni’s remarks.

Mwangale said that Uganda has no legitimate claim to ownership of the Indian Ocean.

“There was nothing he said. That was just a murmur. Uganda has no valid or legal claim to ownership of the sea. However, Kenya only owns a small part of the sea within our maritime boundary,” he said.
