Minister of Labor Announces Butchers Needed in Europe with a Salary of KSh 100k

Minister of Labor Alfred Mutua he revealed that the positions are located in a European country, with successful applicants entitled to a monthly salary of KSh 100,000, as well as other benefits.

Which Kenyans will the government send to Europe?

Speaking on Wednesday, November 12, in the town of Emali, where President William Ruto was launching his four-day business visit to the Ukambani region, Mutua said that those opportunities will be given to the residents of Kibwezi West.

He asked the local MP Mwengi Mutuse to identify and prepare the right people to fill those positions.

The selected butchers are expected to travel at the end of next month.

“As the Minister of Labour, I am working tirelessly to address unemployment. I have received a plan to find Kenyan butchers for work in Europe. They will earn KSh 100,000 per month. Thirty young people are needed, and I have asked Member of Parliament Kibwezi Mugi to help identify them,” Mugi Muse said.

Will the government enable Kenyans to go to Europe for butchering jobs?

Earlier, Ruto had announced that the government would support qualified people who cannot afford to travel.

He added that they will pay the expenses once they start earning. Ruto also assured that passport applications and issuance of passports to Kenyans with confirmed job offers will be fast-tracked, promising to be dispatched in less than three days.

This comes a few days after the president found 13,000 jobs for Kenyans in Qatar.

This was also confirmed by the Speaker of the White House Hussein Mohamed. The President also explained on his official X account that he held a productive meeting with the Minister of Labor of Qatar, Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri, and welcomed the move, noting that it will increase the number of Kenyan workers in Qatar to about 90,000 and open the doors to global employment, better income, and uplifting society.

The two governments also agreed to launch a Qatari Visa Center in Nairobi as early as 2026, a move that Ruto said would ease labor mobility, remove barriers to recruitment, and protect Kenyans from exploitation by criminal organizations.

In addition, Ruto and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, reaffirmed the Kenya Airways-Qatar Airways partnership and witnessed the signing of a financial cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening investment and positioning Nairobi as the financial center of the region.

How Ruto wants Kenyans living abroad to invest

The President advised Kenyans in the diaspora to invest in fraud-free government projects. Ruto particularly urged the diaspora to consider investing in the Government’s Affordable Housing Scheme as a safe alternative to informal schemes that often result in fraud.

He highlighted many cases where individuals abroad were misled by friends or relatives to send money for non-existent housing projects, only to later discover that they had been duped.
