Kirinyaga – The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has announced the arrest of three citizens of Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday, November 12, DCI said the three were arrested in a multi-agency raid targeting an online fraud network in Mwalimu Street in Mwea town.
“Three Nigerians were arrested in a multi-agency raid in Kirinyaga. A well-coordinated multi-agency raid at Mwalimu Street in Mwea town has busted a suspected online fraud network run by three Nigerians,” DCI said.
According to the DCI, the suspects, Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwe, were evicted from their room after members of the public alerted about midnight activities in their rented house.
“Suspects Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwel were evicted after the public alerted them to suspicious movements and late-night activities inside the house they occupied,” the statement said.

During the raid, detectives found 21 mobile phones, 79 SIM cards and several credit cards from different banks, in what officials said indicated a well-oiled fraud network.
“When detectives raided the premises, they found 21 mobile phones, 79 SIM cards, a Dell laptop, and a stack of credit cards from different banks, all pointing to a well-oiled fraud network,” DCI revealed.
Preliminary investigation showed that the three, who claim to run an online business, are in the country illegally and do not have valid work permits.
“Investigations have revealed that the three, who claim to be “running an online business,” are in the country illegally, their entry is overdue, without valid work permits. The three are currently being held in custody while investigators further investigate their network, tracking possible links to transnational cybercrime groups,” DCI said.
