- Former Minister of Commerce, Moses Kuria, has asked the country’s electoral commission (IEBC) to ensure that the November 27 election is not marred by violence
- Kuria claimed that there are some members of the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), who are planning to disrupt the campaign meeting of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua
- The outspoken politician said the people would be dressed as members of his party, Chama Cha Kazi (CCK).
Moses Kuria wrote an open letter to the IEBC on Tuesday, November 11, alleging that some people from the UDA are planning to disrupt the campaign Rigathi Gachagua by pretending to be CCK members.

Kuria also claimed that the people will ask Gachagua to give them KSh 10 million, money that he allegedly took from the CCK candidate, Duncan Mbui.
He made it clear that Gachagua does not owe anything to that member of his party.
“For the record, Mr. Gachagua owes nothing to Mr. Mbui, and such claims should be despised. Above all, CCK has taken a strong stance against election violence, as we have witnessed what happened in 2007-2008,” read part of Kuria’s statement.
Kuria emphasized that CCK’s position against violence is fundamental and nothing will make them change it. He ended by asking for it IEBC to deal with the matter properly.
“…what will happen on November 27 will be a sign of what will happen on August 10, 2027,” added Kuria.
Kenyans referred to Kuria’s statement
After making those remarks, Kenyans expressed different opinions on the internet, some asking Kuria to further clarify his claims.
Evano RKOD:
“CCK is telling the truth: anyone who organizes riots, fake costumes or fraudulent schemes is playing with fire.”
Abdikadir M:
“It is a great courage.”
Guchaaga:
“CCK, the Communications Commission of Kenya has no politics, stop lying to us.”
Eng. BJ Magero:
“UDA Kenya has no competition with Rigathi regarding Múríma’s politics. It is focused on addressing the national issue of finding an appropriate member of parliament for Mbeere North Constituency.”
Eddy Ndoria:
“Good point, Moses. The mountain should be united. Anyone who says otherwise should go hug a cactus.”
Moses Kuria criticized IEBC
These new claims by Kuria were made a few hours after he criticized the IEBC, challenging its ability to conduct free and fair elections.
He accused the commission of failing to take action against the people behind the video that went viral targeting Gachagua.

Five people were seen in the video warning against campaigning in Mbeere North on behalf of the candidate of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
One of the men was heard threatening that Gachagua would face hostility if he did not heed the warning.
