Mwalimu Shange disappeared early on Monday, November 3, following a mysterious accident at dawn in Muge area while he was on his way to collect KCSE papers.

According to authorities and local residents, the body, found this morning, was mutilated and unrecognizable.

Preliminary evidence suggests that the principal may have been tortured before he was killed, a grim discovery that has sent shockwaves across Lugari.

Police and crime scene investigators cordoned off the area as crowds gathered along the riverbank, many struggling to come to terms with the tragic end of the venerable man.

The discovery raises disturbing questions about what happened to Shange between the time his car was found at the scene of the accident and his body turned up several kilometers from the river.

Mwalimu Shange’s death is regarded as murder

Detectives are now treating the incident as a suspected murder, and the investigation has intensified to piece together his final moments.

Parents of KCSE candidates at Munyuki High School spent the morning consoling each other, with many describing the principal as a father who always puts his students first.

By the time of filing this report, the body had been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem.

As the community mourns, officials have urged calm and patience while promising a thorough investigation.

His colleagues, students mourn Mwalimu Shange

Meanwhile, grieving family members, co-workers, students, and the entire community are calling for justice and protection, saying the brutal killings have left them horrified.

“This is not just a tragedy, it is a bad dream. We prayed that he would be found alive,” said a teacher at Munyuki High School, unable to hold back tears.

“It is very sad to receive the news of the death of my colleague in mysterious circumstances. Shange I knew was a harmless person who would not harm a fly. His killers should be brought to justice and not find a place to hide,” Mr. Chiriswa, a former colleague at Nyang’ori High School offered his condolences.

“It is a sad time not only for the Nyang’ori High School family but for the larger group that interacted with Mr. Shange. The aura surrounding him will remain forever in our minds. A perfect Kiswahili teacher, rest in eternal peace,” Jaikah, a former student added.

Currently, Lugari is united in grief, and in demanding the truth behind the killing of Mwalimu Simon Isiaho Shange.

Missing Kisumu teacher found dead

This news comes just a day after another missing teacher, Maricus Owino, was found dead a few days after he went missing.

The search for the Lela High School Mathematics teacher who went missing on October 31, ended after his body was found in a mortuary in the County of Poisonous.

Owino had survived a hit-and-run accident, but repeated arguments from those who took him to the hospital caused him to leave without treatment.
